Meet Sean

C.C.C., EMDR Therapist

I offer straightforward and accessible counselling. I work within my scope as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) and as an eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist through EMDRIA.

In my work, I naturally emphasize an approach centred on compassion, acceptance, self-awareness, relational awareness, and a zoomed-out systemic understanding of the factors impacting your life. Importantly, I center your explored/chosen/evolving identity within our conversations.

Ultimately, I aim to empower you. This includes relational support directly from me, as well as simple, practical tools and skills you can leverage between sessions.

I work alongside you with mutual respect. I also bring 9 years of university education into my work, when evidence-based information from within my scope as a C.C.C. may help you navigate your situation. My undergraduate degrees in education and kinesiology, and my master’s in counselling, combine to inform my professional knowledge and skill set. My lived experiences in university-level sport, coaching youth sport, as a permanent certified teacher in Alberta, in mental health crisis response, youth reunification, and disability case management have provided me with a well-rounded opportunity to observationally learn from others, recognize patterns quickly, and integrate my understanding of varied human experiences across numerous contexts.

My history aside, in each present moment, I aim to meet you where you are as an equal.

Schedule an introductory session, and we can decide upon your next steps during that time.

Group Sessions

Safe spaces for sharing and growing with others in similar situations. Email me if you have interest in a particular group option. I am currently building a waitlist for the following groups and will run these groups once 3-5 people are on the waitlist for each one.

Kids in the Hall

Group psychotherapy sessions for children aged 10-18. This group provides a unique opportunity for peer learning on various topics relevant to the group members, their parents, and/or teachers. I tailor content to each group and session, and participants are also supported in gaining new social and emotional regulation skills throughout these sessions. 6 x 50-minute sessions. $80 per participant, per session. Sessions take place once a week, using after-school hours on a day and time that works for all participants. I meet with one or both parents prior to waitlisting someone for these groups, and meet with each individual participant once prior to the first group session.

The Locker Room

These sessions are for athletes 18+ and for adults who previously identified as athletes. They provide a unique opportunity to connect and collaborate on the evolving nature of identity as it shifts through varied sporting experiences, whether these experiences involve joining a new team, navigating an injury, or the transition out of sport and into the rest of your life. I facilitate these sessions as someone who has lived through these transitions myself, yet I remain solely in my role as facilitator to support all group members. I do not prepare any content for these sessions in advance. They occur phenomenologically*. For this reason, the cost of these sessions is lower than my group for youth. $50 per participant per session for 6 total sessions, which take place once every two weeks. Email me to join the waitlist for one of these groups.
